Remember, you and you alone are responsible for maintaining your energy. Give up blaming, complaining, and excuse-making, and keep taking action in the direction of your goals – however mundane or lofty they may be. ~ Jack Canfield
There is always an enemy within your vicinity that not many people are aware of. Whenever one starts complaining or whining, the energies to push on the agendas forward become low. Complaining is a slow-killing poison to dreams. It makes a person have excuses as to why things are not working for him or her.
Many men and women of God who became great icons of faith went through thick and thin times. They were pressed between a hard place and a rock. They lived lives that if many of us are given the same situations; they will crash under that pressure. But we read in their histories how they made differences and became great. They had realized that he who had started good work in their lives would complete it according to Philippian chapter one verse six.
Joseph sets a good example of a man who did work in every place he saw himself in. When he was sod into Portipars house as a slave the Bible records in Gen 39:4 that Joseph found grace in his sight, and he served him. And he made him overseer over his house, and he put into his hand all he had ~ MKJV. What do you think of this? To a person who is a complainer, he would have lived in the house of his master with a frowned face and would not work in good faith.
You can see Joseph served him. He did what he ought to have done. He knew that God was with him. He feared God and found grace in His sight. Whenever we are at a fix and we are given an opportunity to serve, it is our responsibility to do it with all our hearts and might as we are doing it to the Lord ~ Eph 6:7.
When Joseph was sent into prison the Bible records in Gen 39:22, ‘And the keeper of the prison gave all the prisoners in the prison into Joseph’s hand. And whatever they did there, he was the doer of it. MKJV’ Can you see the man who is willing to be at the service even in worse situations? He is in prison but, instead of complaining to God, he starts working where he is.
In Gen 40:4 the Bible says, ‘And the chief of the executioners charged Joseph with them (Pharaoh’s wine bearer and baker), and he served them. And they continued for a time under guard. MKJV’ Joseph is given some more responsibility in prison to serve Pharaoh’s wine bearer and the baker. He does this without complaining. He serves other prisoners.
When God allows situations to come to us, he knows he has also given us the power and abilities to counter them. But what do we do? We complain and whine instead of putting our hands into doing something as we wait for the Lord to bring those worse things to halt.
Satan’s trick is to make us complain. He might worsen our situations and bring evil thoughts to us so that we start complaining to God about our situations because he knows our Father does not like complainers. The situation you are in is not a forever situation, you need to stop complaining and start working. Complaining only puts you under the wrong category. God wants you to endure as He works his way to make you better.
The children of Israel served forty years in the wilderness and those who were over twenty years by the time of judgment died there. This was brought about by complaining. Caleb son of Jephuneh and Joshua son of Nun survived death and reached Canaan because they were of different thoughts and hearts. They did not complain when others were doing so. When God says in Jer 29:11, he has good plans for us and a great future, he means it, believe it, and go to work.
Joseph in the meantime was in rough terrain, but God was preparing him to meet his destiny – to be the prime minister of Egypt. When he interpreted the dream for Pharaoh, the ripe time for him to become great was already ripe.
You can foster a seed of greatness in the job you are in, the household you have, the education you are pursuing, the business you are doing, the family you have, the financial situation you are in, the social status that you are in if only you understand this simple principle – stop complaining and start working. You are a great person and will be one if only you do this one that.
Learn a lesson from brother Joseph, Caleb, and Joshua as you cultivate a seed of greatness in your life. Stop complaining and start working for the situation you are in is not coming to destroy you, but to make your character great as it brings your destiny closer.
